Hey family,
So, since I just told you all about out investigators in my last letter, I thought it would be fun to do sort of a random letter about Spain and the mission.
We live beneath a strong member family-the Baenas. Hermano Baena is probably getting close to 60. He has a very deep, comforting voice and treats us like family. He is always bringing us down some of the food they cooked for lunch, which is the biggest meal of the day in Spain. Usually it’s a stew type food with lentils or garbanzo beans.
· The milk here makes your hair grow faster.
· They don’t have sour cream or cottage cheese.
· They don’t have many candy bars-but they have a ton of pastries.
· They usually have 1-3 kids.
· Everyone thinks we’re Jehovah’s Witnesses
· Canas! As far as I know, you can only get them in Andalucia. Flakey pastry covered in sugar with a really incredible chocolate in the middle. They are 480 calories! Therefore must only be eaten once in a while. But so good!
· It is very funny to watch Spaniards throw a football. They struggle a little bit.
· Spaniards eat a lot of French Fries.
· We made carmel corn out of peeps last night.
· They think you will get a cold if you walk on tile in bare feet.
· They fry everything in oil.
· They definitely say what they think.
· They all want Obama to win. Especially the Africans.
· Kids start school at 2 or 3 years old.
· It’s rare you see grass, but there are a ton of orange trees.
· Everyone is named Mariah.
· We live next door to a family of cats.
· Spaniards are generally shorter than Americans
· They are a friendly, laidback people.
· Buses are the most common form of transportation.
· They put tuna in everything.
· There are a ton of people from other countries here for work. A lot of them with kids back home.
· Waffles are a dessert, not a breakfast.
· Churros and chocolate are a breakfast, not a dessert.
· We still hang our clothes out to dry.
· Halloween is just beginning to catch on here. It’s not something everyone dresses up for….so I’ve heard. I’ll let you know soon.
· They have a separate store for everything. (candy, bread, meat, veggies). They have regular ones too.
So there you have it, some random things about Spain. Have any questions? Anything else you’d like to know? I hope you enjoy these pictures….I sure don’t. They are so gross. That is what Spanish food does to people…but no worries, Hermana Clegg and I have started running every morning and getting up a little early to do it. Well, I’d better run. I love you guys so much! I hope you have a great week! Talk to you soon. I love you
Love,
Morgan
